The NCAA Division III tennis committees have selected individuals who will compete in the singles and doubles competition of the 2012 NCAA Div. III Tennis Championships which will be held at the Carry Tennis Park in Cary, North Carolina, May 21-26.
Oberlin senior Ariel Lewis (Vacaville, CA/Vanden) has been named Player of the Year and DePauw freshman Maggie MacPhail (Indianapolis, IN/Park Tudor) has been named Newcomer of the Year to highlight the 2012 All-North Coast Athletic Conference women's tennis selections.
DePauw University has been selected as one of eight hosts for the opening three rounds of the 49-team NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships, May 10-12. DePauw is ranked eighth in the latest poll and is making its 11th Division III appearance and eighth straight.
The Division III quarterfinals as well and the singles and doubles championships will be held in Cary, N.C.
The 2012 NCAC Tennis Championships concluded on Sunday evening at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. The Kenyon men captured their sixth-straight NCAC championship after defeating Denison, 6-1, in Sunday night’s championship match, while the DePauw women captured their first-ever NCAC women’s tennis title after defeating Oberlin, 5-1, in Saturday afternoon’s championship match.
The DePauw University women's tennis team captured its first-ever North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) championship after defeating Oberlin, 5-1, in Saturday's championship match. The Tigers opened the tournament with a 5-0 triumph over Wooster in the quarterfinals and then advanced to the championship match with a 7-0 victory over Kenyon in the semifinals.
The 2012 North Coast Athletic Conference Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championships will be held at Kenyon College this weekend (Apr. 27-29). The women’s tournament will begin on Friday morning and run through Saturday afternoon, while the men’s tournament will begin on Saturday afternoon and conclude on Sunday afternoon. The team champion for both genders will earn both the NCAC Championship as well as the league’s automatic bid into the NCAA Div. III Tournament.

The 2012 North Coast women's tennis season continued last week with six teams in action. The week was highlighted by Oberlin extending its winning streak to ten in a row as it took down Wooster, Ohio Wesleyan and Denison. The win against Denison is the first for the Yeowomen since 1997 and the first victory against a nationally ranked opponent in head coach Constantine Ananiadis' tenure.

The North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) has placed all 10 member institutions on the updated 2011-12 Division III Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Standings which includes the results from 2011-12 NCAA winter postseason championships. The Directors' Cup Standings measure each institution's overall achievement in postseason play by awarding points based on each team's finish in NCAA postseason competition.
