NCAC Weekly Release (11-5-12) - Swimming & Diving

The North Coast swimming & diving season continued last week with all ten league teams in action, highlighted by Hiram, Oberlin and Wooster competing in the opening two rounds of the Greater Cleveland Tournament and Denison hosting NCAC-rival Kenyon in a dual meet on November 3rd.

North Coast swimming & diving squads were busy last weekend as three meets were contested on Friday evening and five more on Saturday. This weekend’s action will be highlighted by Oberlin hosting Hiram and Wooster at the Greater Cleveland Tournament on Friday and Saturday.

NCAC Weekly Release (10-22-12) - Swimming & Diving

Seven North Coast men’s and women’s squads kicked off the 2012-13 swimming & diving season at the Kenyon Relays on Saturday (10/20) in Gambier, Ohio. Denison and Kenyon tied for the team title on the men’s side with 116 points apiece, while Kenyon grabbed the top spot in the women’s meet with 120 points.

Recent Kenyon College graduate Alisa Vereshchagin (Solon, OH/Solon) has been recognized by the NCAA as one of the Top 30 honorees for the 2012 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.

CSCAA Hands Out 2011-12 Scholar All-America Accolades

The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) recently handed out its yearly Scholar All-America Accolades and the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) was well represented on the Scholar All-America Team lists.

DePauw Names Matt Ense Head Women's Swimming & Diving Coach

Matt Ense, assistant swimming and diving coach at Denison University, has been named DePauw University's head women's swimming and diving coach. Ense replaces Mary Bretscher who, in April, announced her retirement from coaching.

Nine NCAC Student-Athletes Named To Capital One Academic All-American At-Large Squad

Nine North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) student-athletes were named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America Division III At-Large Team, it was announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America on June 5.

Four NCAC Student-Athletes Earn NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships

Four NCAC winter sports student-athletes have been awarded one of the prestigious NCAA postgraduate scholarships for the 2011-12 academic year, including DePauw senior swimmer Catie Baker (Cedar Rapids, IA/Kennedy), Kenyon senior swimmer Alisa Vereshchagin (Solon, OH/Solon), Kenyon senior swimmer Lars Matkin (Homer, AK/East) and Kenyon senior swimmer David Somers (North Potomac, MD/Quince Orchard).

11 NCAC student-athletes have been selected to the 2011-12 Capital One Academic All-District VII Division III At-Large First-Team, released by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on May 18th.
