Wittenberg and Denison both improved to a perfect 2-0-0 conference record and share the lead atop the NCAC standings. Wooster is the lone other unbeaten team in NCAC action after a win against Kenyon last week. This week features a full slate of conference contests, including four games on the first Saturday of October.

ALLEGHENY tied Buffalo State last week, 1-1, before falling on the road against NCAC foe Denison 2-1. The Gators are now 4-6-1 on the year.

After dropping a 1-0 non-conference decision at Earlham, DENISON improved to 2-0 in the NCAC with a 2-1 victory over Allegheny on Saturday. Junior Jocelyn Festle (Park Ridge, IL/Loyola Academy) and sophomore defender Gen Eng-Surowiec (Oakland, CA/Bishop O’Dowd) both recorded a goal and an assist, with Festle netting the game winner. Junior keeper Andrea Karl (Powell, OH/Olentangy Liberty) posted seven saves on the week.

DEPAUW was scoreless in 200 minutes last week and have been shutout in five matches this season. The Tigers have allowed just one goal in three conference contests.

HIRAM earned its first NCAC victory, posting a 3-0 shutout against Ohio Wesleyan. Sophomore forward Samantha Zuponcic (Mantua, OH /Crestwood) scored twice to lead the Terriers to victory.

KENYON went scoreless in two NCAC contests, a 1-0 loss versus Wooster and a 0-0 tie at DePauw. Junior goalie Lauren Wolfe (Overland Park, KS/Blue Hill North) recorded a total of nine saves for the week.

In its first game of the week, OBERLIN lost to Bluffton, 2-1. The Yeowomen then dropped its first conference game to Wittenberg, 3-1.

Senior midfielder Jessie Huschart (Columbus, OH/Hilliard Davidson) scored one goal and set up another as OHIO WESLEYAN built a 3-0 lead and went on to defeat Wilmington in a non-conference matchup. Junior midfielder Emily Sattler (Marysville, OH/Marysville) and sophomore back Sarah Stachowiak (Westlake, OH/Westlake) also scored for the Bishops. Junior goalkeeper Hannah Zacharias (Marysville, OH/Marysville) finished with three saves for Ohio Wesleyan. Hiram defeated Ohio Wesleyan in the Bishops’ NCAC opener on Friday in Hiram. The win was the Terriers’ first in 14 meetings against the Bishops. Ohio Wesleyan had won the first 13 meetings in the series, which dates back to 1999.

After a scheduled contest with Ohio Northern was twice postponed, WITTENBERG finally hit the pitch for a 3-1 win at Oberlin. The Tigers limited the Yeowomen to just four shots, none coming in the last 62 minutes of the game, thanks to the efforts of a strong defensive crew led by senior Kelly Brothers (Dublin, OH/Jerome).

WOOSTER improved to 6-4-1 after defeating Kenyon, 1-0, in the Scots NCAC opener. Katherine Turtle (Laurel, MD/Reservoir) scored the games only goal off a rebound in the 67th minute of the match.
