2011 ALL-NCAC WOMEN'S SOCCER SQUAD ANNOUNCED
OHIO WESLEYAN'S KREBSBACH, ALLEGHENY'S KLIMENT TAKE TOP INDIVIDUAL HONORS

2011 All-NCAC Teams

Ohio Wesleyan senior forward Makinzie Krebsbach (Vadnais Hts., MN/Totino-Grace) and Allegheny senior defender Kira Kliment (Roebling, NJ/The Pennington School) have been named the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year to highlight the 2011 All-North Coast Athletic Conference women’s soccer selections after balloting by league coaches.

Krebsbach {left}, who makes her fourth consecutive appearance on the All-NCAC team, led the Battling Bishops with 11 goals and 23 total points this season after also dishing out one assist. Ohio Wesleyan captured a share of the NCAC regular season championship and then went on to win the NCAC Tournament title for the first time since 2005. Krebsbach finishes her career at OWU with 24 goals and eight assists for 56 points in 75 career matches. She was an honorable-mention honoree as a junior in 2010 and a member of the second team in both 2008 and 2009.

Kliment {left} is the first Allegheny defender since 2002 to win the Defensive Player of the Year award. In addition to leading the Gators’ defensive unit that only surrendered eight goals this season, she also contributed one game-winning goal and three assists for the offensive unit. Kliment makes her debut on the All-NCAC first team and her second consecutive appearance on the all-conference squad after earning honorable-mention laurels last season.

Kenyon senior forward Caddie Durrett (Atlanta, GA/The Westminster School) and Ohio Wesleyan senior midfielder Belle Madison (Charlevoix, MI/Charlevoix) both earned their third straight, first-team all-conference selection, while Allegheny senior goalie Emily Karr (Wexford, PA/Pine-Richland) and Wooster senior defender Kelsey Peters (Goshen, IN/Goshen) were both named to the first team for the second consecutive season. Karr and Peters joined Krebsbach as four-time, all-conference performers as they were each named to the honorable mention squad in 2008 and the second team in 2009. Wittenberg junior forward Kailey Striebel (Kettering, OH/Fairmont) and Wooster junior forward Paige Piper (Midland, MI/Dow) were also repeat selections on the All-NCAC first team. It was Striebel’s third all-conference nod as she was named to the second team as a freshman in 2009.

Four players are making their first appearance on an All-NCAC squad as first-team selections, including Allegheny senior midfielder Rebecca Crissman (Butler, PA/Butler), Denison freshman midfielder Lydia Harlan (St. Louis, MO/Visitation Academy), DePauw junior midfielder Dana Sprague (Dhahran, Saudi Arabia/Cushing Academy) and Ohio Wesleyan freshman defender Sarah Stachowiak (Westlake, OH/Westlake). Denison junior defender Alicia Blake (Clinton Twp., MI/Chippewa Valley) rounds out the list of first-team performers after also earning honorable mention laurels in 2010.

Stachowiak {left} was also selected as the NCAC’s Newcomer of the Year. She anchored OWU’s defensive unit that recorded 12 shutouts and allowed only 17 goals in 21 matches this season.

Ohio Wesleyan head coach Bob Barnes {right} was voted the NCAC Coach of the Year for the third time in his career (1999, 2001). He guided the Battling Bishops to a 5-1-2 conference record and a share of their first NCAC regular season title since 2004. Barnes, who guided OWU to the NCAA Div. III National Championship in 2001 and 2002, is 208-66-26 in 15 years at the helm at Ohio Wesleyan.
