Several North Coast men’s and women’s golf squads have kicked off the spring portions of their schedules over the past two weeks by competing in spring break tournament’s in Arizona, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.
DePauw University won one outright league championship to go along with two third-place finishes and two fourth-place finishes to maintain its lead in the race for the 2012-13 North Coast Athletic Conference All-Sports Championship.
The fall portion of the North Coast women’s golf season is drawing to a close. Wittenberg hosted its annual Pat Clouse Invitational this past weekend, while Allegheny completes its fall schedule this week in Destin, Florida, at the NCAA Division III National Preview.
WOOSTER hosted HIRAM, DENISON and OHIO WESLEYAN at the Wooster Fall Invitational at Wooster Country Club, October 6-7. Baldwin-Wallace captured the team title with a two-day total of 668 (335-333), while Denison finished second with a 685 (337-348), Ohio Wesleyan finished third with a 743 (373-370), Wooster in fifth with a 753 (373-380) and Hiram in ninth with an 891 (432-459).
OHIO WESLEYAN hosted ALLEGHENY, DEPAUW, HIRAM and WOOSTER at the NCAC Fall Preview at Oakhaven Golf Club, September 29-30. The event allowed the competing NCAC teams a chance to play on the same course as the second NCAC Championship series golf event, which is scheduled for May 4-5, 2013. DePauw captured the team title with a 36-hole total of 650 (322-328), followed by Allegheny in second with 652 (324-328), Ohio Wesleyan in third with 718 (356-362), Wooster in fourth with 813 (410-403) and Hiram in fifth with 846 (440-406).
The only women's golf action in the North Coast this weekend will be at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational at Oakhaven Golf Club in Delaware, Ohio. Allegheny, DePauw, Hiram, Ohio Wesleyan and Wooster are all scheduled to compete at the event.
