2013 ALL-NCAC BASKETBALL SQUAD ANNOUNCED
ERNST NAMED PLAYER OF THE YEAR

2013 All-NCAC Women's Basketball Teams

Kenyon senior Kayla Ernst (Batavia, OH/Batavia) has been named Player of the Year to highlight the 2013 All-North Coast Athletic Conference women's basketball squad, announced today after voting by the conference's head coaches.

Ernst {right}, who led the Ladies to a second-place finish in both the regular season and the NCAC Tournament, finished the 16-game conference schedule as the NCAC's leading scorer with 338 points (21.1 ppg) and a league best .560 shooting percentage (140-of-250) from the field. Ernst, who is making her third-straight appearance on the first team, was third in the league at the free throw line at 85 percent (51-of-60) and eighth in the league in rebounding with 105 boards (6.6 rpg).

Denison senior Serafina Nuzzo (Western Spring, IL/Fenwick) joined Ernst as a three-time first-team selection, while Kenyon junior Maureen Hirt (Bloomington, IN/North) makes here second straight-appearance on the first team and third All-NCAC selection overall after earning honorable mention accolades in 2011.

A trio of student-athletes elevated to the top squad after earning second-team laurels in 2012, including Allegheny senior Daryl Ford (Pittsburgh, PA/Sto-Rox), Oberlin sophomore Christina Marquette (Huntington Beach, CA/Edison) and DePauw senior Kate Walker (Indianapolis, IN/Perry Meridian). In addition, DePauw junior Alex Gasaway (Crawfordsville, IN/Crawfordsville) makes her first appearance on an All-NCAC squad in 2013 as a first-team selection.

Allegheny freshman Emma Pellicano (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) {left} was named the Newcomer of the Year after averaging 10.0 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game in her rookie campaign.

DePauw head coach Kris Huffman {right} was voted NCAC Coach of the Year for the second consecutive year after she guided the Tigers to a perfect 16-0 record in conference games this season. Huffman, who owns a career record of 460-102 (.819) at DPU, will guide the nation's top-ranked squad into the 2013 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament with a perfect 28-0 record. The Tigers will open tournament play at home at the Neal Fieldhouse on Friday, March 1, against La Roche College.
