NCAC Weekly Release (10-22-12) - Men's Soccer
Heading into the final week of NCAC regular season action, only four points separate the top six teams in the league with DePauw (5-1-2, 11-1-4) currently sitting at the top with 17. Ohio Wesleyan (5-1-1, 11-2-3) however controls its own destiny to earn the top seed going into the NCAC Tournament after handing Allegheny (5-1-1, 13-2-1) its first conference loss of the year last week.
ALLEGHENY picked up a huge road win last week, scoring three goals in the second half to defeat Hiram, 3-0, on Tuesday. Senior defenseman Timothy Egan (Gibsonia, PA/Shady Side Academy) scored his first goal this season to get the Gators on the board and spark the offensive outburst. Senior midfielders Conor Azevedo (Cranberry, PA/Seneca Valley) and Tyler Danzey (Finleyville, PA/Thomas Jefferson) also scored. Ohio Wesleyan snapped Allegheny’s seven-match winning streak with a 3-0 win on Saturday at Frank B. Fuhrer Field.
DENISON split a pair of NCAC contests last week, defeating Wittenberg at home (3-2) before dropping a road contest at Hiram (2-0). Against the Tigers, senior captain Ryan Torgersen (Spring, TX/Klein) scored the game-winning goal and an assist in his final game at Barclay-Thomsen Field.
DEPAUW completed the away slate of its 2012 schedule with victories over conference foes, Wabash (2-1) and Oberlin (1-0), to bring their season record away from Greencastle to 6-1-1. Recent NCAC Player of the Week, Alieu Musa (Greenwood, IN/Center Grove), netted yet another game winning goal in overtime, this time against the Little Giants to bring his season goal total to three.
HIRAM lost its second straight NCAC contest, falling to Allegheny, 3-0, last Tuesday. The Terriers responded to blank Denison 2-0 over the weekend.

OBERLIN lost a pair of 1-0 decisions last week, first falling to Ohio Wesleyan on the road before dropping a home tilt to DePauw on Saturday.
Sophomore midfielder Colton Bloecher (Lewis Center, OH/Olentangy Orange) scored the game’s only goal as 25th-ranked OHIO WESLEYAN defeated Oberlin in league action. Bloecher put the Bishops ahead in the second minute of the second half, scoring on the offensive rebound of his own shot. Senior goalkeeper Paul Hendricks (Columbus, OH/Worthington Kilbourne) made two saves during the second half to keep the shutout going, and finished with four saves. Bloecher then had a hand in all three Ohio Wesleyan goals as the Bishops posted a key NCAC win over the 20th-ranked Gators of Allegheny on Saturday.
WABASH lost in overtime for fifth and sixth times this season --- and third consecutive match. The Little Giants dropped a 2-1 overtime contest to arch-rival DePauw on Wednesday, then fell 1-0 to Kenyon in an extra session on Saturday.
