Hiram senior midfielder Ryan Greenhill (Solon, OH/Solon) and Ohio Wesleyan senior defender Kit North (Powell, OH/Bishop Watterson) have been named the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively, to highlight the 2012 All-North Coast Athletic Conference men’s soccer selections after balloting by league coaches.
Greenhill {left}, who is the first Hiram men’s soccer player in history to garner the NCAC Offensive Player of the Year accolade, makes his second-straight appearance on the first team and fourth All-NCAC selection all-time after being named to the second team in 2010 and the honorable mention squad in 2009. Greenhill helped lead the Terriers to a third-place finish in the final regular season standings after scoring five goals and dishing out nine assists for 19 total points in 19 matches this season.
North {right}, who makes his second-straight appearance on the All-NCAC first team, helped guide Ohio Wesleyan to its fifth-straight and 21st NCAC championship all-time after the squad finished the regular season with a 7-1-1 mark in league play and an overall record of 13-2-5. North, who did total 14 points on the season (6g, 2a) was the centerpiece to the Battling Bishops’ defensive unit that has only allowed 14 goals in 20 matches this season. Although OWU did not advance out of the NCAC Tournament championship match, the Battling Bishops did receive one of 20 at-large bids into the NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Tournament and will square off against Centre on Friday at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois.
Ohio Wesleyan freshman Brian Schaefer (Chatham, NJ/Chatham) {left} earned Newcomer of the Year recognition after scoring five goals and dishing out three assists for 13 total points through 20 matches this season.
