2011 All-NCAC Men's Soccer Squads
Ohio Wesleyan senior forward Travis Wall (Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington) and DePauw senior goalie Nathan Sprenkel (Zionsville, IN/Zionsville) have been named the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively, to highlight the 2011 All-North Coast Athletic Conference men’s soccer selections after balloting by league coaches.
Wall {left}, who is a three-time first-team All-NCAC performer, has tallied 15 goals and dished out 14 assists for 44 total points through 21 matches thus far this season. He has helped guide OWU to a current overall record of 19-2-0 and a trip to the NCAA Div. III Men’s Soccer Tournament for the seventh-consecutive season and the program’s 34th berth all-time. Wall will lead the Battling Bishops in an NCAA third-round match against Ohio Northern this Friday (11/18) at 7:30 p.m. in Delaware.
Sprenkel {right} bolstered the DePauw defensive unit in its inaugural season as a member of the NCAC as the Tigers allowed just 19 goals in 20 total matches. Sprenkel, who corralled 84 saves on the year, totaled 1817:05 minutes in the nets and surrendered just 18 goals for a goals against average of 0.89.
Kenyon senior midfielder Keith Dangarembwa (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe,/St. Columbus) and Ohio Wesleyan senior midfielder Dylan Stone (Easton, CT/Barlow) were the only other two conference players on this season’s top squad to earn multiple first-team appearances in their careers as Dangarembwa also earned first-team laurels in 2009 and Stone was named to the top team last year. Dangarembwa was also a second-team selection in 2010 and earned an honorable- mention nod in 2008.
Oberlin senior forward Oliver Miller-Farrell (New York, NY/Friends Seminary) earned his fourth-career All-NCAC mention as a member of the 2011 first team, while Hiram junior Ryan Greenhill (Solon, OH/Solon) and Denison senior Chris Olson (Alrington Hts., IL/Rolling Meadows) earned All-NCAC recognition for the third time in their careers on the top squad this year.
Allegheny junior Tim Egan (Gibsonia, PA/Shady Side Academy) and Hiram junior Ryan Minick (North Royalton, OH/North Royalton) both collected their second-career All-NCAC nods as members of the 2011 first team.
In addition, four players make their All-NCAC debut as first-team selections this season, including DePauw senior Sam Meyer (Northfield, IL/New Trier Twp.), Ohio Wesleyan senior Andrew Miller (Medina, OH/Medina), Ohio Wesleyan junior Kit North (Powell, OH/Bishop Watterson) and Hiram junior Dan O’Callaghan (Aberdare, Wales).
DePauw freshman Andy Morrison (Bristol, IN/Northridge) {left}, who earned second-team all-conference status, also earned Newcomer of the Year recognition. One of only four freshman to garner All-NCAC honors, Morrison started in 19 games for the Tigers this season and was second on the team in all three major offensive categories with 10 goals and seven assists for 27 total points.
DePauw head coach Brad Hauter {right} is the NCAC’s Men’s Coach of the Year after he guided the Tigers to an overall record of 16-3-1 and the 2011 NCAC Men’s Soccer Tournament title.
