WABASH CLAIMS SECOND STRAIGHT MEN'S INDOOR TRACK TITLE
THROCKMORTON, MCCARTHY AND GUO NAMED MVPS

2012 All-NCAC Indoor Track & Field Performers

The Wabash men successfully defended their team title at the 2012 NCAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, held at Wabash March 2-3. Click HERE for complete results from the 2012 NCAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.

The Little Giants, which have now won back-to-back indoor NCAC titles, captured six event titles and 16 other top-three event finishes to total 238 points. Ohio Wesleyan was second with 172 points after winning six events and finishing in the top-three in six others. Allegheny was third in the final team standings with 67 points, followed by DePauw (57.5), Oberlin (54), Wittenberg (49), Denison (42), Wooster (12.5) and Kenyon (10).

Wabash head coach Clyde Morgan {right} was named the NCAC Men’s Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season. In four years at Wabash, Morgan has now guided the Little Giants to back-to-back indoor NCAC crowns as well as the 2011 outdoor title.

2012 NCAC Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Year

Men’s Sprint/Hurdles - Taylor Throckmorton, Allegheny
Allegheny senior Taylor Throckmorton (Chagrin Falls, OH/Chagrin Falls) won the 400-meter dash with an NCAC record clocking of 49.32, finished second in the 200-meter dash (22.47) and was a member of the fourth place 4x400-meter relay. 

 

Men’s Distance - Kevin McCarthy, Wabash
Wabash senior Kevin McCarthy (Zionsville, IN/Zionsville) won both the one-mile run in a NCAC record time of 4:10.46 and was also a member of the winning Distance Medley relay squad that also set the NCAC record with a time of 10:19.12.

 

Men’s Field - Alex Guo, Oberlin
Oberlin junior Alex Guo (Tokyo, Japan/American School in Japan) won the men's triple jump with a leap of 13.54 meters and finished second in the long jump with a leap of 6.54 meters.
