Wittenberg University has long been a pioneer in athletics and recreation, offering as broad-based an intercollegiate athletics program as possible and leading the way in offering women competitive opportunities. Now offering 23 varsity teams — 11 for men and 12 for women — in addition to numerous club and intramural opportunities, Wittenberg has something to meet every student's athletics and recreation needs.
In the fall, varsity teams are fielded in men's and women's cross country, field hockey, football, men's and women's soccer and women's volleyball. Winter sports include men's and women's swimming and diving, men's and women's basketball and men's and women's indoor track and field. The spring season features men's and women's golf, men's and women's outdoor track and field, men's and women's tennis, softball, baseball and men's and women's lacrosse.






The North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) was well represented when D3baseball.com released its second annual All-Region teams today as seven student-athletes were named to one of the three All-Midwest Region teams.
The 2013 NCAA Division III Golf Championships concluded last Friday, May 17, at the Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort in Destin, Florida. The Wittenberg University men’s team finished the four-day event in 13th-place with 1,212 strokes (304-302-297-309), while the DePauw women finished eighth overall with 1,290 strokes (321-323-321-325). A pair of American Southwest Conference members captured national titles as Texas Tyler won the men’s competition with 1,167 strokes and Mary Hardin-Baylor raised the Walnut & Bronze on the women’s side with 1,239 strokes. The Wittenberg men's golf team shot a fourth-round score of 309 to fall from eighth place at the start of the day to 13th in the final standings. The Tigers' four-day total of 1,212 wound up 45 strokes behind national champion Texas-Tyler, which topped Transylvania by seven strokes to claim the coveted Walnut & Bronze NCAA Championship trophy.
The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) recently announced its 
Denison University posted top-five finishes in 19 of 23 sports to earn the North Coast Athletic Conference All-Sports Championship for the 12th time in school history. The Big Red opened the year with top-five finishes in five of the seven fall sports, and kept the momentum rolling into the winter season with five more top-five finishes, including league titles in men's swimming & diving and women's swimming & diving. DU capped off the year with a strong showing in the spring season, finishing in the top-five in nine of the 10 sports, including the outright NCAC title in men's lacrosse. The Big Red secured the 2013 All-Sports title by compiling 165.0 total points, edging out 2012 All-Sports champion DePauw (159.5) by five-and-a-half points.
