Wittenberg University

Wittenberg University has long been a pioneer in athletics and recreation, offering as broad-based an intercollegiate athletics program as possible and leading the way in offering women competitive opportunities. Now offering 23 varsity teams — 11 for men and 12 for women — in addition to numerous club and intramural opportunities, Wittenberg has something to meet every student's athletics and recreation needs.

In the fall, varsity teams are fielded in men's and women's cross country, field hockey, football, men's and women's soccer and women's volleyball. Winter sports include men's and women's swimming and diving, men's and women's basketball and men's and women's indoor track and field. The spring season features men's and women's golf, men's and women's outdoor track and field, men's and women's tennis, softball, baseball and men's and women's lacrosse.

Seven NCAC Baseball Players Named To D3baseball.com All-Mideast Region Squad

The North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) was well represented when D3baseball.com released its second annual All-Region teams today as seven student-athletes were named to one of the three All-Midwest Region teams.

NCAC Weekly Release (5-20-13) - NCAA Div. III Golf Championships

The 2013 NCAA Division III Golf Championships concluded last Friday, May 17, at the Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort in Destin, Florida. The Wittenberg University men’s team finished the four-day event in 13th-place with 1,212 strokes (304-302-297-309), while the DePauw women finished eighth overall with 1,290 strokes (321-323-321-325). A pair of American Southwest Conference members captured national titles as Texas Tyler won the men’s competition with 1,167 strokes and Mary Hardin-Baylor raised the Walnut & Bronze on the women’s side with 1,239 strokes. Wittenberg Men's Golf Finishes 13th At NCAA Championships

The Wittenberg men's golf team shot a fourth-round score of 309 to fall from eighth place at the start of the day to 13th in the final standings. The Tigers' four-day total of 1,212 wound up 45 strokes behind national champion Texas-Tyler, which topped Transylvania by seven strokes to claim the coveted Walnut & Bronze NCAA Championship trophy.

Wittenberg Men's Golf Jumps Into A Tie For 8th After Round 3 At NCAA Championships

On Day three of the 2013 NCAA Division III Championships, the Wittenberg men's golf team made its biggest move of the tournament, climbing five spots after shooting the lowest score of the round. The Tigers posted a team score of 297 on the par-71, 6,854-yard Raven course at the Sandestin Beach and Golf Resort, matching the marks turned in by Emory and tournament-leading Transylvania. As a result, Wittenberg moved up from a tie for 13th place at the start of the day to a tie for eighth place heading into the fourth and final round on Friday.

GCAA Announces 2013 Men's Golf All-Region Performers and All-American Scholars

The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) recently announced its 2013 All-Region Teams as well as the list of 2013 Scholar All-Americans. The NCAC placed six golfers on the All-Great Lakes Region squad and had two student-athletes represented on the Scholar All-American list.

Wittenberg Men's Golf Enters Round 3 Of NCAA Championships In A Tie For 13th

For the second straight year, the Wittenberg men's golf team put together a second-day charge to make the cut by the most narrow of margins at the NCAA Division III Championships. The Tigers finished the second round as part of a three-way tie for 13th place after carding a 302 on the Links course at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. Wittenberg stood 16th after posting a score of 304 on the more challenging Raven course in Tuesday's opening round.

Denison Wins 13th NCAC All-Sports Title; Big Red Claimed 19 Top-Five Finishes in 2012-13

Denison University posted top-five finishes in 19 of 23 sports to earn the North Coast Athletic Conference All-Sports Championship for the 12th time in school history. The Big Red opened the year with top-five finishes in five of the seven fall sports, and kept the momentum rolling into the winter season with five more top-five finishes, including league titles in men's swimming & diving and women's swimming & diving. DU capped off the year with a strong showing in the spring season, finishing in the top-five in nine of the 10 sports, including the outright NCAC title in men's lacrosse. The Big Red secured the 2013 All-Sports title by compiling 165.0 total points, edging out 2012 All-Sports champion DePauw (159.5) by five-and-a-half points.

2013 All-NCAC Baseball Team Announced

Wooster junior second baseman Eddie Reese (Canfield, OH/Cardinal Mooney) {left} and Wooster senior  left-handed pitcher Keenan White (Dublin, OH/Dublin Coffman) {right} have been named the Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively, to highlight the 2013 All-North Coast Athletic Conference baseball selections.

NCAC Weekly Release (5-13-13) - 2013 Baseball Tournament

The College of Wooster (15-3, 32-10) captured its 15th all-time North Coast Athletic Conference baseball championship with an 18-6 victory over Allegheny (11-7, 26-16) in game six of the 2013 NCAC Baseball Tournament on Friday, May 10, at VA Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe, Ohio. The Fighting Scots broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the sixth inning with eight runs on five hits and then added six more in the seventh and two more in the eighth to seal the 12-run victory over the Gators. With the victory, the Scots were crowned the 2013 NCAC baseball champions and earned the league’s automatic big into the NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament. The Fighting Scots will open play in the Terre Haute Regional at Art Nehf Field in Terre Haute, Indiana, on Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. against Thomas More (29-14).

Wooster Captures 15th NCAC Baseball Championship

The College of Wooster captured its 15th NCAC Baseball title all-time on Friday afternoon with an 18-6 victory over Allegheny in the championship game of the 2013 NCAC Baseball Tournament. With the victory, the Fighting Scots have earned the league's automatic bid into the 2013 NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament. After the game, NCAC Assistant Executive Director Russell Kramer caught up with Woster head coach Tim Pettorini.
