Hiram College

Founded in 1850, Hiram College continues today as one of the nation’s most well respected liberal arts institutions. Located in Northeast Ohio’s Western Reserve Area, Hiram attracts students from throughout the United States and 24 countries. Hiram’s academic calendar, known as the Hiram Plan, is unique to the nation.

The College offers students one of the country’s oldest and most respected study abroad program. More than 50% of Hiram students study abroad during their four years on campus. Recognized as a Baccalaureate-I institution by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, Hiram is one of only 13% of colleges and universities to be awarded a chapter of the prestigious honor society Phi Beta Kappa. Hiram enrolls 1,240 students in its traditional program and more than 300 adult learners in the Weekend College, the first program of its kind in Ohio.

2012 NCAC Basketball Tournament Central

The 2012 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) men's and women's basketball tournaments are set to tip-off this evening with eight quarterfinal games. Follow all the action by visiting each gender's tournament website.

NCAC Weekly Release (2-19-12) - Men's Basketball

Wittenberg (14-2, 20-5) wrapped up its 11th outright North Coast championship with wins over DePauw, 56-55, and Hiram, 72-50. Wooster has compiled 14 overall titles to lead the league, sharing the championship with Wittenberg in the 1991-92 season and with Allegheny in ‘88-89. Between the Tigers and the Fighting Scots, one of the two teams has had at least a share of every NCAC Championship dating back to the 1988-89 season.  Allegheny and Ohio Wesleyan each boast four crowns. The Gators shared the championship with the Tigers in 1993, Wooster in 1989 and Ohio Wesleyan in 1988 and ‘86. The Battling Bishops also won outright titles in 1987 and ‘85. 

NCAC Weekly Release (2-19-12) - Women's Basketball

DePauw completed a perfect run through its inaugural season of NCAC play after defeating Wooster, 51-31, on Saturday for its 23rd victory of the season, securing the top seed in tournament play. Wittenberg leads all league teams with 12 NCAC championships, sharing the crown with Ohio Wesleyan in 1999 and ‘92. Allegheny is next with six titles, including five-straight from 1985-89.  No other team in conference history has won more then three consecutive championships. The Gators shared the NCAC’s first championship in 1985 with Wooster.  Additionally, Allegheny and Ohio Wesleyan tied for first in 2001.  The Battling Bishops own five overall titles, while Kenyon and Denison boast three and Wooster two.
 

2012 All-NCAC Swimming & Diving Performers Announced

The Denison men and women successfully won their fourth consecutive North Coast Athletic Conference swimming & diving championships at the 28th annual event, hosted by Hiram at the C.T. Branin Natatorium, Feb. 15-18.

The Denison University men and women successfully won their fourth consecutive North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Swimming & Diving Championships at the 28th annual event, hosted by Hiram College at the C.T. Branin Natatorium.

NCAC Weekly Release (2-12-12) - Men's Basketball

The North Coast enters the final week of the regular season schedule with Wittenberg (12-2, 18-5) having clinched a share of the NCAC Championship with its 68-62 overtime victory over Wooster on Saturday. Wooster (9-3, 18-3) maintains sole possession of second place while Ohio Wesleyan (8-4, 16-5) and Wabash (9-5, 17-6) are tied for third place and Denison (8-6, 11-12) sits alone in fourth. DePauw (7-7, 13-10)  and Hiram (6-8, 13-10) are in fifth and sixth place, respectively, and are within one game of each other.

DePauw (14-0, 21-1), having already captured the NCAC championship and the No. 1 seed for the 2012 NCAC Women’s Basketball Tournament, continued its unbeaten conference record with a 70-39 victory over Hiram. The final seven seeds for the conference tournament will be determined this week as the NCAC regular season schedule officially comes to a close on Saturday. League action picks back up this Wednesday with four games on the slate, highlighted by DePauw hosting Wittenberg (8-6, 12-10) and Ohio Wesleyan (5-9, 9-14) traveling to Kenyon (9-5, 16-7).

Two NCAC Men’s Squads Ranked In D3hoops.com Top 25; DePauw Women Move To Fourth In A Pair Of National Polls

The North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) has three basketball squads ranked among the nation's best. The DePauw women moved up two spots to No. 4 in both the WBCA USA Today/ESPN Top 25 and the D3hoops.com Top 25. The Wooster men moved up one spot to No. 13 and the Wittenberg men re-entered the D3hoops.com Top 25 at the No. 22 position, while Ohio Wesleyan and Wabash appeared in the others receiving votes portion of the poll.
