The Big Red eliminated Penn State-Behrend following a 5-4 come-from-behind victory. The Big Red improves to 28-18, while Penn State-Behrend ends its season with a 26-15 record. Denison returns to action on Saturday at 10 a.m. DU will take on the loser of the game between top-seeded Trine and No. 4 seed Chicago.
Sandra Sanford has announced her resignation as the head coach of Allegheny softball after maintaining the prominence of the Gators' historically successful program for the last nine years. Sanford has enjoyed an outstanding coaching career that has included three regular-season NCAC titles. She led the Gators to the NCAA tournament on three occasions, and totaled five seasons with at least 20 wins. In 2012, the Gators finished with a 27-11-1 overall record as Sanford was named NCAC Coach of the Year for the second time.
The DePauw women's golf team remains in second-place with 934 total strokes (314-307-313), while Allegheny also held steady in the team standings in eighth-place with 958 strokes (320-320-318) through three days of competition at the 2012 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships. 12-time defending national champion, Methodist, sits atop the team leaderboard with a 54-hole score of 932.
The NCAA Division III tennis committees have selected individuals who will compete in the singles and doubles competition of the 2012 NCAA Div. III Tennis Championships which will be held at the Carry Tennis Park in Cary, North Carolina, May 21-26.
