Wittenberg Men's Basketball Caps Season in NCAA Sectional Final

Wittenberg men's basketball closed out its 2011-12 season with a 70-49 loss to Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday evening in the sectional final round of the NCAA Division III Tournament, which was hosted by Wooster. The Tigers finish 24-7 overall, while Illinois Wesleyan improved to 23-7 and advanced to the national semifinals in Salem, Va., March 16-17. Both Wittenberg and Illinois Wesleyan last appeared in the semifinals in 2006.

Wittenberg was paced by senior Clayton Black (Lancaster, OH/Lancaster) with 10 points and eight rebounds. Seniors Josh McKee (New Carlisle, OH/Tecumseh) and Michael Cooper (Springfield, OH/South) added nine points each.
