NCAC Weekly Release (5-21-12) - 2012 NCAA Men's Golf Championship

The 2012 NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championships concluded last Friday (May 18) at the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida. The Wittenberg University Tigers finished the four-day event in a tie for seventh-place with 1,202 strokes (309-293-297-303), while Oglethorpe of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) defended its national title with a 72-hole score of 1,171.

NCAC Weekly Release (5-14-12) - NCAA Golf Championships

The 2012 NCAA Women’s Golf Championships wrapped up last Friday, May 11, at the Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Indiana. DePauw concluded the four-day event in second-place with 1,248 total strokes (314-307-313-314), just six strokes behind 13-time defending Div. III champion, Methodist University (1,242). In addition, Allegheny finished in a tie for ninth with St. Olaf after posting a 72-hole score of 1,277 strokes (320-320-318-319).

DePauw Wins First NCAC All-Sports Title; Tigers Claimed 18 Top-Five Finishes in 2011-12

DePauw University posted top-five finishes in 18 of 23 sports to earn the North Coast Athletic Conference All-Sports Championship in its inaugural season in the league. The Tigers opened the year with top-five finishes in six of the seven fall sports, including a share of the field hockey title with Denison, and vaulted into first place in the All-Sports standings after winning the women's basketball title outright in the winter season. DePauw capped off the year with a strong showing in the spring season, finishing in the top-five in seven of the 10 sports, including outright titles in women's golf and women's tennis. The Tigers secured the 2012 All-Sports title by compiling 153.5 total points, edging out second-place Denison (153) by a half a point.

Wittenberg Men; DePauw Women Lead After First Event Of 2012 NCAC Golf Championship Series

The first event of the 2012 NCAC Golf Championship Series was contested over the weekend (Apr. 21-22) at The Country Club of Meadville in Pennsylvania. Defending NCAC men’s champion Wittenberg leads after the first event with a 36-hole total of 601 (304-297), while DePauw sits atop the women’s standings after posting a two-day team total of 644 (326-318).

WITTENBERG MEN AND DEPAUW WOMEN SELECTED AS FAVORITES FOR 2012 NCAC GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Wittenberg men and DePauw women emerged as favorites in the 2012 North Coast Athletic Conference men's and women's pre-championship golf polls, respectively, based on balloting from league coaches. Allegheny will host the first of two NCAC Golf Championship Series events this weekend (Apr. 21-22) at The Country Club of Meadville. The men and women will play 36 holes over two days, with 18 holes being played on both Saturday and Sunday. Event two is scheduled for April 28-29 at Oberlin Golf Club in Oberlin, Ohio, hosted by Oberlin. The men will play 54 holes (36 on Saturday; 18 on Sunday), while the women will shoot 36 (18 on each day).

NCAC Weekly Release (4-16-12) - Golf

The first event of the 2012 NCAC Golf Championship Series will be contested this weekend at The Country Club of Meadville with Allegheny serving as the host. Wittenberg is the two-time defending NCAC champion on the men’s side, while Allegheny captured the first-ever women’s title last spring. A full preview, including a pre-championship coaches’ poll will be released on Wednesday.

 

NCAC Weekly Release (4-9-12) - Golf

North Coast golf squads head back out to the links this weekend with a majority of squads competing at the Ohio Wesleyan Tournaments. The OWU women will be hosting the Laura Bump Invitational at Mill Creek Golf Club and the OWU men are hosting the Strimer Memorial Invitational at Oakhaven Golf Club. Both events will run Saturday through Sunday.

All 10 NCAC Institutions Represented in Latest Div. III Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Standings

The North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) has placed all 10 member institutions on the updated 2011-12 Division III Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Standings which includes the results from 2011-12 NCAA winter postseason championships. The Directors' Cup Standings measure each institution's overall achievement in postseason play by awarding points based on each team's finish in NCAA postseason competition.
