Wabash & Wittenberg Football Remain Ranked Among Nations' Top Teams

For the third week in a row, two North Coast football squads represent the conference on a pair of national polls. Wabash elevated one spot to No. 16 on the D3football.com Top 25 and also climbed one spot to No. 19 on the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Top 25, while Wittenberg also rose one spot to No. 20 on the AFCA Top 25 and appears in the "other receiving votes" section of the D3football.com Top 25.

NCAC Duo Named To D3football.com Team Of The Week

A pair of North Coast football players earned national recognition for their performances last week as Wabash senior quarterback Chase Belton (Dayton, OH/Northmont) {left} and Allegheny senior linebacker Rudy DeStefano (Monongahela, PA/Ringgold) {right} were named to the D3football.com Team of the Week, it was announced on October 1st.

NCAC Weekly Release (10-1-12) - Football

The race for the top spot in the North Coast football standings continues to escalate as Allegheny (2-0, 3-1), Ohio Wesleyan (2-0, 4-0), Wittenberg (2-0, 4-0) and Kenyon (1-0, 2-2) all remain undefeated in league play. Conference action resumes on Saturday with three games on the schedule as Kenyon hosts Oberlin (0-2, 1-3), Wabash (1-1, 3-1) travels to Wittenberg and DePauw (0-1, 1-3) entertains Ohio Wesleyan.

NCAC Well Represented On D3football.com Team Of The Week

The North Coast was well represented on the D3football.com Team of the Week for games of September 20-22. The Allegheny offensive line, comprised of sophomore  left tackle Jesse Battaglia (New Brighton, PA/Rochester), junior right guard Ty Pryor (Slippery Rock, PA/Slippery Rock), senior center Taylor El-Ani (Rochester, NY/Brighton), senior right guard Connor Sharp (Arlington, VA/Washington-Lee) and sophomore right tackle Zack Palmer (Waterford, PA/Mercyhurst Prep), was selected as the offensive line unit of the week, while Ohio Wesleyan junior cornerback Leonard Gleaves (Charlotte, NC/Independence) was also named to the national team of the week.

Wabash & Wittenberg Remain On National Football Polls

Wabash, which suffered a 20-17 overtime setback against Allegheny on Saturday, and Wittenberg, which took down Wooster by a 17-7 tally, both remain among the nation's top squads. The Little Giants dropped to No. 17 on the D3football.com Top 25 and to No. 20 on the American Football Coaches Association national poll, while Wittenberg elevated two spots to No. 21 on the AFCA poll.

NCAC Weekly Release (9-24-12) - Football

North Coast football action continued on Saturday with three league squads capturing victories, highlighted by Allegheny’s (1-0, 2-1) thrilling 20-17 overtime victory over nationally-ranked Wabash (1-1, 2-1). League action picks back up this Saturday (9/29) as Allegheny hosts Oberlin (0-1, 1-2), Wooster (0-1, 1-2) travels to Denison (1-1, 1-2) and Ohio Wesleyan (1-0, 3-0) entertains Hiram (0-2, 0-4).

Wabash's Cody Buresh Named To D3football.com Team Of The Week

Wabash sophomore Cody Buresh (Holland, MI/Hamilton), who was named the NCAC Football Defensive Player of the Week in Sept. 17th, earned more accolades for his efforts in the Little Giant's 35-2 victory over Denison as he was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week.

Wabash & Wittenberg Ranked Among Nations' Top Football Squads

The Wabash College football team and the Wittenberg University football team are both ranked among the nations' top squads. The Little Giants elevated one spot to No. 7 on the D3football.com Top 25 and checked in at No. 6 on the first American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division III coaches' poll of the 2012 season, while the Tigers sit at No. 23 on the AFCA poll as well.

NCAC Weekly Release (9-17-12) - Football

The first weekend of North Coast football action is in the books with Kenyon (1-0, 2-1), Ohio Wesleyan (1-0, 2-0), Wabash (1-0, 2-0) and Wittenberg (1-0, 2-0) all coming away with week one victories. NCAC play continues next Saturday (9/22) with three league contests on the schedule, including Wabash hosting Allegheny (0-0, 1-1), Denison (0-1, 0-2) traveling to Hiram (0-1, 0-3) and Wooster (0-0, 1-1) hosting Wittenberg.
