2011 ALL-NCAC FOOTBALL SQUADS ANNOUNCED;
ZOELLER AND GUM REPEAT AS TOP INDIVIDUAL AWARD WINNERS

2011 All-NCAC Football Teams

Wittenberg senior quarterback Ben Zoeller (Louisville, KY/St. Xavier) and Wabash senior linebacker C.J. Gum (North Judson, IN/North Judson) have both repeated as North Coast Athletic Conference Players of the Year. Zoeller earns his second-consecutive Mike Gregory Award as the NCAC’s Offensive Player of the Year. The award is presented by Richard Gregory of Columbus, Ohio, in honor of his father, a multi-sport standout at Denison in the 1920’s. Gum is the Defensive Player of the Year for the second-straight season and receives the Hank Critchfield Award, commemorating the 1927 Wooster graduate.

Zoeller {left} led the NCAC in passing yards (2,651) and passing yards per game (265.1), was second in the league with 18 touchdown passes and with fifth among NCAC signal callers with 164 completions. He led the Tigers to an 8-2 overall record and a second-place finish in the NCAC with a 5-1 mark.

Gum {right}, a fifth-year senior, leads the Little Giants with 77 tackles this season, including 12.0 tackles for loss and one and a half sacks. Gum and the Giants ran the table in the regular season to claim their sixth NCAC title all-time and extended their overall record to 11-0 with a 38-20 victory over Illinois College in the opening round of the NCAA Div. III Tournament.

Wabash freshman linebacker AJ Akinribade (Indianapolis, IN/Brownsburg) {left} is the North Coast’s Newcomer of the Year. He leads the Little Giants with six and a half sacks, is second with 16 tackles for loss and is third on the team with 55 total tackles (32 solo, 23 asst.).

Wabash head coach Erik Raeburn {right} has been named the Coach of the Year for the first time in his career after guiding the Little Giants to a perfect 10-0 regular season mark for the ninth time program history. Raeburn, who holds an overall record of 38-6 in four seasons at Wabash, will guide the Little Giants in an NCAA second-round game against North Central College on Saturday (11/26) in Crawfordsville.
