Nearly every North Coast Athletic Conference cross country squad will participate in Saturday’s Inter-Regional Rumble at Oberlin. Allegheny, Denison, Hiram, Kenyon, Oberlin, Ohio Wesleyan and Wabash are all expected to participate.

Wittenberg will join the field at the Wilmington Invitational, while Wooster has the week off.

The 17th NCAC Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championship is set to take place on Saturday, October 30 at Wabash. The event will be contested at Southmont High School in New Market, Indiana. Details on the Championship can be found at http://www.wabash.edu/sports/cross_country/ncacchamp.

Last week: Hiram and Wabash were the only programs to have competition.

HIRAM competed at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational. The men finished 17th among 22 teams. Junior Joe Hengoed (Seven Hills, OH/Normandy) was Hiram’s top runner with a time of 27:49.49 in 64th place (of 234). The women’s team was 24th of 24 teams and were placed by freshman Laila Almassri (Parma, OH/Normandy). Almassri finished in 22:33.08 for 117th place (of 261).

WABASH sent split squads to the Dan Huston Pre-National Invitational, hosted by Wartburg, and the Gibson Family Invitational at Rose-Hulman. At Pre-Nationals, the Little Giants finished third on the same course that will host the 2010 NCAA Division III Championships. Senior Seth Einterz (Zionsville, IN/Zionsville) finished sixth in 25:55. At Rose-Hulman, Wabash was eighth behind freshman Jake Ponton (Dyer, IN/Lake Central) in 27th. He posted his fastest time of the season, 27:53.
